Black Rock International Airport boasted an impressive runway of 132,000
feet by 42,240 feet (25 miles and 8 miles, respectively). Of course, only
maybe 5000 x 75 feet was graded out to get rid of the bumps, but in theory,
I guess you could land anywhere. (FAA may have a different viewpoint,
of course.)
The no-frills airport terminal -- but it was complete with a security
checkpoint and 'Customs' officer.
The airport office is equally low-tech in this era of heightened
security... but it did the job.
The airport hangar was next to the parking lot, with the restrooms
(porta-potty) down the ways a bit.
The airport is shown on the map at the bottom of the pentagon-shape
(which is the city itself).
Some of the planes at the airport; there were something like 60
tie-down sites listed on the board.
Black Rock Travel Agency's plane. The girl in the pink leg things
is a photographer -- not an art display.
