Burning Man 2007

This year, there were solar arrays set up in several places to reduce the dependence on diesel generators. This 30 kilowatt system was located near the Man and the Pavillion to power both, charging wet cell batteries during the day and using the power around the clock for the Man, Pavillion and the few lights and electronics at the array's housing.

From the observation platform (above the 17,000 pounds of batteries), looking west-ish... Then looking somewhat north (the panels are oriented a bit off kilter to maximize the charge times). Facing mostly east...

And finally facing south or so. Within the battery area are a few displays to show the amount of power generated and stored -- -- and then how and where it's being used (the color graph).
