Atlanta in the spring time is quite pleasant, I found. (My previous,
undocumented trip in August 2001 was a bit too humid for my temperate
tastes.) Parking (the free kind) was ample near Olympic Park, the
people pleasant, and the downtown construction was exactly as it's been
in every other large town - seemingly slow-moving, intrusive, and making
a royal mess of things.
As capital buildings go, isn't fairly impressive.
It's no Buckingham Palace, but it's nice.
Aw, how nice. Sure, it's for a conference,
but it's a "welcome" sign none the less.
Sooner or later, I figured we would stumble
across the CNN Center. I was right.
Olympic Park. This should prove to
be an experience of the day, if not the week...
Look at all the people who paid to have
their name made into a path for many to trodden upon?
I skipped going to Five Rings fountain,
largely because it was turned off for maintenance.
Nearby was the Georgia World Conference
Center (GWCC). Good for them.
I even managed to find the reason why finding
a Pepsi in this town was so difficult.
Predictable; another sky line of a major
American city.
