Part of my goal is to see every state capitol building, and Baton Rouge
has one of them. I must admire their bold desire to not have a state capitol
that looks like every other one, too. (See? It's not the standard long,
white building with the domed roof in the center, and the flag or eagle
at the dome's top.)
More of a sky scraper design, the Louisiana state capitol is a rare
design in the realm of capitols.
Along the west side of Baton Rouge is the Mississippi, which is
still a thriving shipping port.
Some of the homes in the historic Spanish town, complete with Mardi
Gras beads in the trees.
Not everything is so historically painted, but the architecture
is still more historic than it is pink.
Any place that still has a giant root beer mug outside is okay in
my book.
