7:45am - The alarm sounds, again at 7:45am. But I guess that happens when you leave it alone. Go figure. 7:59am - Baldie manages to haul himself, his stuff, and me (saving the best for last) for the trip from the hotel to the convention center. 8:08am - We left for the convention center. 808 is also the area code for Hawaii. 8:47am - We arrived at the convention center. Why did it take over 30 minutes to travel 0.9 miles? Two stops. I was left in the car with several others, and they didn't even crack the window for us; barbarians. 8:51am - Breakfast. Eggs, again. I like eggs... Darwinism at its best, eh? We then proceed back down to the lounge and after some testing and other such things, get caught up on this and that. 12:02pm - Lunch. Seems like they just all went to lunch. But there were no crackers for me, and like a soldier, he stood by me and didn't eat anything, as sort of a protect to the lack of crackers of apparent junk food. We enjoyed a beverage, and returned back to the lounge, to lounge. 12:51pm - It seems the coupons for a "wearable" and a "conference bag" was not yet open. Sort of a disappointment, after having walked the several hundred feet to determine this. Saddened (yet relieved that at least, for now, I wasn't going to be getting stuffed into a new tote bag), we returned to the lounge again further. 1:30pm - We wandered off to lunch. After discovering the best part of lunch were the rolls and mini-Milky Way bars, I was dragged back to the work room. 4:12pm - Due to network problems, we're sent home to think about all that's happened... and told to expect a long night. 6:00pm - We were pulled to a mandatory meeting. Meetings are always a hoot. 7:12pm - Dinner to follow the meeting. Food is good. I managed to actually get myself removed from the tote bag and got some fresh air. 7:39pm - I even managed to get my picture taken with a gaggle of ladies. 7:43pm - We departed to return to work, but not before grabbing a picture of the sunset. 8:01pm - After finally arriving with the equipment to test, we were left to our own devices for the evening. Thus, back to Bourbon Street. 8:54pm - Julia, Kathy, tubby and I began our stroll down Bourbon Street, passing the tree where Julia last night deposited a strand of white beads. 9:12pm - The boy is a dork. While most single guys are wandering the street with cameras to capture photos of bare-chested girls, he's taking pictures of police cars. 9:14pm - We walked by a hand grenade. It's apparently not only an hand-held explosive, but a drink... I suspect this is a promotion for the latter of the two. 9:15pm - What would constitute "proper attire"? There were folks walking in wearing shorts and tank tops. I guess providing you are wearing a shirt, you're okay? Dunno... 10:01pm - We walked back to the hotels. After a delay, though, it seems the boy wasn't ready for sleep. 11:54pm - We're back on Bourbon Street. It's a Saturday night, and it's actually relatively quiet. Curious. 12:05am - Gazing from a balcony is popular, although it seems that they were bored (assuming their expectation was more than just standing on a balcony). 12:26am - Gawking is also quite popular. Here, we see a crowd, mostly men and several with camera or video camera, photographing the girls dancing on stage. Once again, tubby is taking pictures of something other than what I'd expect him to be taking pictures of. 12:47am - We return back to the hotel, and make sleepy eyes. I initiate my resting/nesting ritual, and retire for the evening. |
