Given the whole movie thing, I figured a visit to Cape Fear, North Carolina
would be everything as suspenseful. What I didn't account for is
the totalitarian nature of local law enforcement officials in what turned
out to be a path from big city Wilmington to Cape Fear, passing through
a series of small hamlets were 25 MPH is not only a good idea, it's the
law, enforced by marked and unmarked cars, using radar and other detection
methods. Sneaky devils.
Nothing proclaims your town as "cool"
as having a battle ship in the harbor. (USS N. Carolina)
A stroll along the pier is also a very
pleasant contrast from just sitting in the car, I must confess.
Add a Federal Building to that equation,
and you've on the map for sure!
The moment I'd been waiting for for days
- the Cape Fear Museum!
... which proved to be a bitter disappointment
- it's a nature (not a movie) museum.
