The town itself isn't terribly fascinating by most standards, but when you consider it was established to replace a tent city for Hoover Dam construction workers, it's far more impressive. (Particular when you consider it's about 30 miles from Las Vegas, and that's the nearest form of definitive civilization we came across, so consider trying to build a city in the desert, where temperatures in 1931 -- the year the city was established -- in the summer neared 120°F, it's quite a feat.) Accordingly, we spent several minutes wandering through the place from within an air-conditioned Ford.
