Lawton served as the launching point for my weekend trip to wander around
this corner of Oklahoma. The airport is quaint, to say the least, but
the city itself is of a nice size (and they're already getting ready for
Christmas on the main street, despite it only being the first weekend
in November right now).
Not that the identity of Lawton is married to Fort Sill, but the
base is a big presence here in town.
The Carnegie Library building, which has now taken on the role of
city hall and offices.
Central Junior High. I'm guessing there was a very slick copper
salesperson in town that week.
Where would we be without a pointy Baptist church? We'd be in the
same place -- but no church.
The federal building and court-house. I thought these were only
for big towns. What do I know?
This is not a typical home here in Lawton. But one subdivision was
all the fancy-pants ones like this.
