Abilene - A small town with big town ideas. And its own water tower, too. (Mar. '02) Amarillo - The first town of significant size we hit during the tour. And pretty windy there to boot. (Mar. '02) Austin - It was a short visit, but we hit on the capital sights. (Mar. '02) Dallas/Fort Worth - We'd have probably stopped had it not been for the somewhat fierce rains of a passing storm front. (Mar. '02) Groom - Don't know much of this place, except that it's got the biggest god-dang cross in the western hemisphere. (Mar. '02) Houston - After looking at the map, and the traffic, the visit wasn't what you'd call "extended", causing me to miss Enron Field. (Mar. '02) Odessa - One of those magical places that has a hotel and an intersection of two highways important to the Tour. (Mar. '02) San Antonio - Well, the trip was the "Remember the Alamo" tour, so I had to stop, at least briefly. (Mar. '02) Seminole - A sort of whistle-stop type of town where we switched highways and directions. (Mar. '02) Waco - The home of Baylor University and the Dr Pepper Museum. And not one mention of those Ranch Davidian events from 1993, although the tourist bureau for a time did have directions available. (Mar. '02) |
