The City of Sails. And why not? There are more references to the Americas
Cup around the harbours than you can swing an oar at, Auckland purportedly
has the most marina berths in the southern hemisphere. With a population
of about 1.2 million, it's the largest city on the northern island (whose
population is about 2.8 million). It's also the home of the Auckland
Domain, a rather old and large park.
It's a passable city sign, plus, it contains the use of the word
"whilst." I love that.
They have Starbucks here... and it was 8 minutes before we saw another
one. A new record!
Miniature cars and giant ads... how clever and unique. But the cars
are really, really cute.
Yup, I waited until picture four to begin with the Skytower. We
start at the base, and will work outward.
At the corner of Queen Street and Wellesley Street, looking away
from the water.
Looking down Queen Street, to my dismay: McDonalds, Dunkin' Donuts,
and Burger King. Ugh.
