![]() Skagway is neither the biggest nor the most accessible community in Alaska, but unlike its state capital in Juneau, it's at least connect to the rest of the world by road. The Klondike Gold Rush that set off in 1896-1897 put the town on the map, and it's managed to hang on long after the last miner called it quits.
