Placerville today has borne the name of Hangtown, and the Ravine City
(by virtue of many ravines nearby). The population from 1854 at 1,900
has grown at a slow but steady pace, to where it stands today, about 9,900.
Oh, how I do enjoy a good sign. And this one had shiny gold and
green letters.
Placerville, or whatever it was called that week, was a Pony Express
station once upon a time.
Few people come here to see the firefighters, but once you get here,
feel free to glance once or twice.
