During a Christmas Eve wander along Interstate 5, I happened across Rancho
Tehama, tucked away into the hills north of Corning,
south of Redding, and west of Red Bluff... and a nifty find considering
I can't even find the place on any map that Google, Yahoo, or city-data.com
have posted. But they also did have a pretty nice-looking airport runway
(and their
airport even has its own web site!).
The usual sign deal, although this one warns you about the gravel
roads and the town's speed limit.
If you need a shaved ice treat (and it's not during the chill of
December), this place is for you.
Market and gas station, and even though we're a bit off the beaten
track, the gas prices weren't bad.
The town doesn't have its own fire department, rather, it houses
a few county fire vehicles.
The local telephone company. It's nice to know the big Bells haven't
invaded *every* market out there.
Looking to build? They've got the land... but it's be a devil of
a commute to work, I'm afraid.
