Like most larger cities, Santa Barbara had a nondescript sign along Highway 101 as you enter town. I could stop and get it, sure, but could risk dying in the process. I'm not quite at the stage of being ready to die for The Cause.

Mission Santa Barbara was the 10th (of 21) California missions, this one founded in 1786. The views from the mission are good, too -- those Spaniards had a good eye for detail. As we puttered down Anacapa Street, we couldn't help but catch a view of the decor in the works.
Like Michael Jackson, I thought I'd go see the Santa Barbara County courthouse. What's a beach-side town without a harbor? Nothing! A Sambos restaurant. Despite all the controversy of years gone by, it's quietly still open for business.
