Some would call 1851 the birth of this little town, providing they disregard
the fact that the Mi-Wuk tribe of Native Americans called this place home
long before the pale faces were here looking for shiny golden nuggets.
Now it's mostly just pale face tourists trying to fit their SUVs down
horse and wagon-wide roads.
If that ain't a right pretty sign, I dunno what is; and the gold-ish
seal would make any 49er proud.
Downtown Sonora. The buildings are old, the streets are narrow --
didn't the miners plan for SUVs?
I never realized there were nursery schools for parents... just
goes to show what I know, doesn't it?
A stately building, to be sure. Not sure what it once was, but it's
now the school's district office.
The courthouse, made of brick, and standing here forever and a day.
