While the town is a mere 2,000 or so people, its ZIP Code -- 96731 --
was part of a closing little blurb in the 1970s on the TV show The
Diamond Head Game, which encouraged viewers to visit the town while
in Hawaii as part of the closing voice-over.
The post office is tucked away in the back of the shopping center,
but it still gets the job done.
The bulk of the shopping areas were limited to the touristy-looking
area (with all of the basic, expected gift shop and eateries), then
there's the most basic mini-strip mall with the laundromat.
Kahuku's fire station perched along the around-the-island highway.
The red curb here in town seems to be largely decorative; there
was no shortage of cars parked at it.
