The song makes the place sound so rustic and idyllic. The sign,
on the other hand, makes you almost feel like you're trespassing into
some cult compound. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, of course, but
it was an eerie feeling to be there. We left in haste after these
pictures were taken...
Someone went to a lot of trouble to find
that many white rocks and arrange them (and there's just as many on
the other side of town).
As we approached, the Home on the Range
looked more like a ranchette with a few hired hands - hardly something
to sign about.
Perhaps it's just me, but I become skeptical
anytime the sign (building, whatever) begins with "Visitors Welcome".
Any, why check in? Is it like the roach motel, where you
don't then get to check out?
