Budapest

The tour group led us up the hill to historic Buda, the palace complex and original town atop the hill (some 160 buildings in all). From there, views of the flat-landed Pest and buildings that have been standing for a few centuries now, or far longer; those that were lost due to bombing in World War II were rebuilt to original design and specifications.

The road leading up to the Old Town within Buda at the hilltop, this one dates back to the 1300s. One of the oldest town (darker paint, middle) in town; most others were rebuilt after the war to match. A number of statues and such are built to honor or defend events like safety from plagues, etc.

The overlook to the city; this was build in the 1800s, and isn't a fort feature per se. Looking out across the Danube River at the Parliament Building, one of the largest ones in Europe. The aforementioned Chain Bridge, the first permanent bridge over the Danube built in the 1800s or so.
