Tubby and I arrived at Black Rock City around 10am Monday, 27 August
2007. The drive itself was quick, minus some unfortunate soul who appeared
to have lost control of their car and at least one occupant had to be
airlifted out. The entry road was also watered down just in front of us,
turning the typically dusty entrance into a relatively with a relatively
dust-free entrance.
Highway 447 was relatively free of traffic, impressive considering
this is opening day and all.
Just about 20 miles south of Gerlach, a minor backup as a Life Flight
helicopter takes off.
The single-vehicle incident that needed the 'copter... passing issue?
Regardless, slow down!
The entrance sign as you step off the road surface and onto the
BLM-managed Black Rock Playa.
The roads were watered down just a few car lengths ahead of us,
cutting the dust down oodles.
The only, and brief, delay, was at the gate itself, waiting for
our maps and such.
