Tucked into the hills along the Rhine River, Melk is home to a quaint
community as well as the old-standing home of Benedictine Monks (living
here in the Benediktinerkloser).
Outside the one school is the board of events (and will do given
a lack of city limits signs, eh?).
The cobblestone and pavement streets are narrow in places, wider
in others, but cute all around.
As it's Sunday, the square is less busy than I'd otherwise expect;
a small street market is behind me.
Atop the hill is the castle-like Benediktinerkloser, a centuries-long
home to a group of monks.
Within the walls here is one of the courtyards and
fountains.
The church itself used upwards of 40 kilograms (88 pounds) of gold
when they decorated the interior.
