Nuremberg has been around for what seems like forever; the old city is
surrounded by walls and a moat, and the moat has been drained since the
1400s -- the place has been around just that long. The walls are black
(original) and a salmon-pink (restored after World War II bombing damage,
the wrath of Hitler once hoping to turn this little city into the new
capital of his ill-conceived empire).
Ah, yes... even in Germany, the "you are here" is sort
of a universal marking.
Just a glimpse straight up the side of the church's
walls.
(One of) the now boarded-up well along the perimeter walls; but
still nice to keep in tact.
A century-plus old warehouse, though repainted in the last few years,
we were told.
The bridges for the river leaving the fortress area; the first is
the wall's bridge, the second is the roadway.
Looking up-stream to the water spillway and the roof of the warehouse
is to the far left.
