St. Peter's Basilica is Rome’s tallest building. And today, the law is such that no other building may be built that would be taller than St. Peter's.

St. Peter's Basilica from a-far, as well as the lights from inside the bus from a-near. St. Peter's, amongst other things, acts as a showcase for mummified papal remains. Even some of St. Peter's bone fragments are buried about 50 feet below the altar, here.
Michelangelo’s famous La Pieta is housed here in St. Peter's. Pius XI worked to make the Vatican into its own country back in 1929. Can’t say I was surprised to see this... it *is* a Catholic church, after all.
