The Wellington Zoo is sort of tucked away into the hills, beyond hospital,
and in an oblong arrangement that seemed to squeeze a lot of animals and
birds in a rather compact space. Once we got past the seemingly empty
otter habitat, the place got rather interesting, indeed.
Given all the marketing for the zoo, I'm a bit surprised they don't
have "Wellington" on the sign.
Once we found any animals, the monkeys were the first to be found.
Such happy primates.
The endangered Kaki, or Black Stilt. It tends to nibble mostly on
bugs, native to the South Island.
Okay, so the Carolina Woodduck isn't a local bird (from North America),
but the pond was cool.
An ostrich and a zebra, sort of sharing space quite
politely.
A couple of giraffes, giraffing. But from here, it gets more interesting...
