| 6:58am (MDT) |
Up, once more, without using the alarm.
We take turns in the showering facilities and doing other, related
start-of-day activities. |
| 7:21am |
We have a discussion about my room-based stay on this trip. After
some debate, wherein I (surprise) win, I am to be taken with him today.
I mean, would you want to spend a third day with a view like
this? |
| 7:29am |
We reach Compari's,
the breakfast and lunch restaurant in the restaurant. |
| 7:32am |
The hostess, Rosa, seated us, and much to our mutual disappointment,
they do not have booster seats. I managed to
make do so I could still reach the table. |
| 8:19am |
And Tubby and I are on our way, starting
with the trip to the offices he's working from. But I'm
outdoors! |
| 9:03am |
Tubby and the tall blonde woman do their little teaching thing to
a group of people or something; I just sat off to the side and looked
around. |
| 10:34am |
Tubby started doing his little talk
or something, which was... well, boring to me. |
| 11:51am |
Tubby wrapped things up and sent everyone off. As folks were piling
out, I commented to his Dorkiness about a rather attractive bird in
the front row, brunette, Christina or something. I got a blank stare
in reply, but he eventually figured out who I was talking about, and
agreed with the observation. |
| 12:31pm |
We managed to make the 15 or so mile
drive to downtown Denver, where we began by popping by the Invesco
Field stadium thingy for the Denver Broncos (seating capacity
is 76,125, if you're wondering). |
| 12:34pm |
The downtown Denver area presents an impressive
skyline, far more so than what I saw on the rainy day we were
here in 2002. |
| 12:38pm |
Note to self - find a local to tell
us what this
sign is supposed to mean. |
| 12:48pm |
I finally managed to get close enough to the state
capital building to snag a picture of it. Then, I had to make
the trek up the stairs to see the mile-high
marker (up
close pic of it) on the 13th step from the little road around
the building. And I must say, from the top
of the steps, the view of the municipal buildings. |
| 12:54pm |
I just thought the concrete barriers
under this oddly shaped judicial
building looked funny. My first thought was they were trying to
keep people from illegally parking there, but I suppose the intent
is deeper than that. |
| 12:59pm |
I don't know what this
building is, but it had a fence around it. And this one, also
unknown was made
of brick AND had a fence around it. I'm sure both are important
for the very reason of the fence. |
| 1:27pm |
We headed back to the office to complete
the day. But honestly, I had more fun wandering around than I did
sitting around an office -- but I suspect most folks would echo that
sentiment. |
| 5:02pm |
Tubby, myself, and a handful of others headed out more or less on
time. (I suspect the Lard Lad would have preferred to keep working,
but he's something of a savant like that.) At any rate, the redhead
had Tubby drive, which was a harrowing experience for me, given we're
in a rental. |
| 6:42pm |
We head back to the hotel, change
into cozy clothes (I didn't really need to change, and Tubby traded
real clothes for a daring orange "Tang" t-shirt and sweats,
surprise). We then headed down to the lobby to pick up some mail and
meet the gang. |
| 7:01pm |
So, the hotel mail room takes an inordinately long time getting
stuff to the front desk, but we finally accomplished the mission and
headed to the hotel's restaurant. Kathy delighted me beyond words
with the presentation of a
little friend, one whom I can command around like my (very small)
unholy army of the night. |
| 7:09pm |
Tubby's little phone rang, and he
was gone. I was left along the the hotel restaurant place with a good
sized group, but found the absence of his largeness to be, well, largely
unnoticed by all but a few. |
| 8:35pm |
The party broke up and we all headed back to the room. Tubby met
the few that held on to the end, and my care and custody was transferred
from the very able companions back to the boy. Lucky me. |
| 11:36pm |
I'm going to bed. The boy is still
on the phone with some database guy, but it's nothing I either want
to get involved with or can really help with. Alas, I'm off to sleep.
Nighty-night! |
