It seems that if you're anywhere near Honolulu, you have to visit the
swap meet at the Aloha Stadium. There are flyers about it at rental homes
and motels, the locals speak of it, and past visitors rave: 8 t-shirts
for $20, $1.50 key chains, cheap everything else. And for the $1 admission,
I found they were right... though no one mentioned the setup of vendors:
outer-most (expensive?) stalls are bigger vendors, and as you move inward,
it gets more and more like a true swap meet/garage sale. And yes, I got
myself a cheap t-shirt.
Yup, sure enough, the Aloha Stadium isn't just a clever name --
it's actually held at the stadium
Forgot your cash, and the stand doesn't take plastic? No worries
-- Bank of Hawaii has you covered.
Arrive early for the best deals, but if you are here too early,
you may also feel a bit lonely.
Piles and piles and PILES of stuff for sale in the outer-most ring...
and none of it looks used.
Yup, you can even get swap meet prices for chopper rides and scuba
diving trips here.
The ride of one of the more prosperous vendors? Don't know, but
it seemed a bit much for me.
