St. Paul turned out to be a little piece of heaven. Largely due to a
lack of rest areas along state highways and county roads, we popped into
a local gas-n-gulp market to tend to various needs. (Well, not mine, of
course... to write about my own functions would be daft.) In the process
of looking at snacks, I happened across some "candy stix", which
got the boy all teary eyed. (Back when he was a lad, they were called
"candy cigarettes", and were yummy, it seems.) Needless to say,
we bought all 20 boxes, at a reasonable market price of only 25¢
per box.
All things considered, it's a nice sign, eh?
And where would you be without a picture of their water tower?
The downtown, as seen from the north end of town, looking south.
In smaller towns, it seems that railroad crossings
are managed largely on the honor system.
