The final stop after a day of heavy rains and minor traffic accidents,
we found a Motel 6 (now THERE is a challenge, eh?) complete with a view
of oil fields, neighbors with a lack of needs for sleep, and more than
a few references to being somewhat presidential. (The next city
over, Midland, is home of President G.W. Bush, and both Midland and Odessa
boast a population of about 90,000-100,000 people.)
The city announces itself with a brick
name sign. Nice, eh?
Admittedly, I think I prefer the brick
sign; so much more colorful and such...
The oil fields as seen from outside room
138 of the Motel 6. Makes for a nice sunrise...
Yup, Odessa can't just get its name written
on enough signs, walls, and road sides, it seems.
Sure, it is Tuesday, but it's only 8am,
and we've got a ways to go. Maybe next time...
And no mid-western town would be complete
without a Baptist church.
