Reading along the map, we found that George Washington's birthplace here at Wakefield was only 14 miles from where we were already destined (Lyells). Despite the veil of darkness setting in, we pushed ahead and got a peek of what is now nothing physical, but remains the site, and a monument to George, and the family burial site of his forefathers.

The monument stands just behind me as I arrived, roughly two hours after their 5pm closing time.	Nothing historic, I just thought it curious to have a picnic area so close to the burial area. Anyway.	This is the spot of where the first of three generations of Washingtons were buried, starting in 1668 with his father, John.
