![]() Perth is a city of 1.4 million people, the largest in the Western Australia territory (whose population is just shy of 2 million). We wandered around for perhaps five hours, taking in the Perth Mint and the Fire Brigade Museum. The population began exploding when gold was discovered here in 1892, and it's been growing ever since. (They still greatly contribute to gold mining production in the world, with Australia now moving to #2 after South Africa, surpassing the United States.)
