Perth is a city of 1.4 million people, the largest in the Western Australia territory (whose population is just shy of 2 million). We wandered around for perhaps five hours, taking in the Perth Mint and the Fire Brigade Museum. The population began exploding when gold was discovered here in 1892, and it's been growing ever since. (They still greatly contribute to gold mining production in the world, with Australia now moving to #2 after South Africa, surpassing the United States.)

If you think it's a lovely looking city, thank the Graffiti-Busters! See them at work! Okay, that's that.

Arriving at 11pm leaves no signs to be seen, but now, you can't but be surrounded by huge banners. The Perth Mint, opened over 100 years ago, was a great place to visit... but no pictures allowed. :( This is the first place I've seen a dedicated bike lane that was paved and everything.
The Perth skyline, and from the park, you also have a nifty view of... ... the Swan Bell, whose purpose wasn't entirely clear to me, but it was rather lovely to look at. Amidst one of the larger shopping areas runs the train station, and since Tubby likes trains, well...
